Officer Pickett officially passed just before 4 a.m. today. The recipient of his heart is a patient at St. Vincent, where officer Pickett was. From everything being said, it sounds like that recipient got a very good heart.

It's easy to be "brave" for the moment, in front of cameras, and knowing nothing will immediately happen.
Give him some time in prison.
Give him some time watching others on death row.
Might focus his mind for when the needle approaches.

(And I use the term "brave" loosely)

I bet he wasn't so brave when he was apprehended. It is easy to talk tough stuff in front of a news camera when you know there are no consequences or bad things going to happen to you.

Watching the coverage on tv of the funeral right now. This is so incredibly awful. The idea that the guy that shot him has no remorse just makes me wish they had shot him dead on the spot. Then again...he’s asking for the death penalty obviously because he knows he’s a waste of human flesh and wants the easy way out. I honestly don’t know whether we should grant him the death penalty or make him sit in a cell to dwell on what he has done for the rest of his life.

Curse you Mr. Police officer for giving me that speeding ticket a few months ago but THANK YOU for being a police officer. What happened to Deputy Pickett is a danger you guys face everyday.
