What would be the justification for shooting him?
Many folks on INGO espouse the notion that you don't need any justification other than he's in your house.

How do you lose your pants?
Anyone who says they would have shot him immediately is either a liar or an idiot.
A sleeping drunk is no threat. I agree with grab your gun, your phone, call 911, keep the idiot covered, wait until the police arrive, and let them handle the idiot. No need to kill someone for stumbling into the wrong house and falling asleep on the wrong couch. Now all bets are off if someone is beating on my door and they are told to vacate the premises and they dont and finally break thru the door, police called or not, at that point they are a threat and will be dealt with accordingly.

With that kind of ability to take things out of context, you must work for the media. If not, perhaps a career change....INGO'ers would shoot step kids, why not a sleeping drunk.
For the record, it wasn't me.
Why don't we believe you?..Got an alibi?...
Depends on what time he was found. I have about 8 hours that I have no witness as to me actually being asleep

I would have to object. In the recent discussion to which I am certain you refer, it was generally assumed that the person was actively breaking in and some seemed to think that it was a prerequisite to clairvoyantly know for certain exactly what the intruder intended to do. Finding a drunk sound asleep on the couch, clothed or otherwise, a la Goldilocks is an unusual and very different situation. Depending on all the good variables, I would either keep an eye on him after calling the police or simply tell him to get his drunk ass out of my house. After all, being asleep generally establishes that the intruder is not preparing to harm anyone (aside from his own public image after the arrest notice hits the paper).
That explains it..and ruin my political career!!!!
In fact the only way you determine he is a sleeping drunk is to identify the target, which in the other thread is poo-poo's as too time consuming and too dangerous. Even flipping on a light or using a flashlight was poo-poo'd as giving up precious tactical advantage and timing. Taking the time to find out he's a sleeping drunk is just as dangerous as taking the time to find out (s)he's your stepdaughter.
What a classic .
I was thinking of those replies when I started this thread in the hope that some would see that not every situation requires shooting somebody.

I've lost my pants but never walked in the wrong house lolI've been drunk before, so drunk I couldn't walk straight, but I've NEVER lost my pants!
