No, this is a forum where we come to bash socialists like Obama and Pelosi only to all but demand price controls on guns and ammo.

Well, I certainly don't mind if you bash the socialists like those you mentioned as I am not a fan either. I must have missed something though as I did not see the OP ask for or say that the government should control the price of ammo or guns, he was just stating his oppinion on the price of the gun. Which I do not have an opinion on since I am not familiar enough with that gun. So I was just wondering why bash the OP and perhaps drive away a fellow gun enthusiast? :dunno:

He wasn't bashing the OP personally, but making a general statement amount some of the opinions voiced on the forum.

It's totally within the OP's rights to disagree with the price and not purchase the WASR. Do I want to pay that much for a WASR? Nope. Wouldn't do it.

But I also wouldn't whine about "gouging" either, as this is not gouging. A WASR is hardly a necessary commodity for life.

I do agree with your definition of gouging and perhaps the title should have been something else. I just disagree with the attacks on the OP or even his oppinion as it really does not do anything but knock the person down. I just try to treat people the way I would want to be treated myself. So I would have just skipped the thread altogether as opposed to bashing. I understand that the bashing was against his post verses him but the OP's request to have the thread closed by a mod would tell me that he may have taken them personally.
I am learning though what to post and what to keep to myself and will probably be more cautious on what I post. :twocents:

It's a valid point - no reason to personally attack each other.

But it's OK to post a dissenting opinion. A forum is a place for civil discussion. You can post dissenting opinions without personally attacking the OP or other posters. I don't think you have to skip the thread entirely.

    Some thoughts on gouging:

I believe,as it seems many on this forum do, if we stop buying sellers will stop gouging. Additonally, the gouging does not occur until money actually changes hands. There will in most cases be another gun to but if the buyer is willing to wait.

I have been watching prices too. I want to add to my collection of firearms. A few hundred dollars more may not change the way I live but I believe it sends the wrong message. I would rather walk away from a bad deal and tell everyone I know where the bad deals are.

The notion of willing buyer and willing seller is all fine and good within reason.

I also understand panic trumps reason.

    Just a few thoughts.

Pay a couple hundred more and get a quality AR. You could even look around on armslist and find a QUALITY AK( not a wasr10). Even with the market the way it is $1100 could fetch you a number of quality firearms. THINK SMART.. Pass it up!

I agree, no ones forcing you to buy, just as in the same way, after a hurricane, no one would force you to buy 5$ bottles of water, but it happens, and it shows you really quickly who the shameless people are.

Buying a WASR is hardly the same as needing water after a hurricane...

Im speaking more on the ammo point that was brought up..

Still don't agree. People here that want to buy ammo just want it to shoot because they enjoy shooting.

I like shooting. I get that. But I won't die if I can't shoot for 6 months or a year.

I will die if I don't drink water for 6 months to a year.

Gouging on water after hurricane =/= temporarily high ammo prices

    BLA BLA BLA BLA

You know what the hell my point was, why are you trying to tell me that water is more important that ammo? Both you and I know, that I know that, and the point I was making was relating to people taking advantage of a situation, and stepping on others, in order to get ahead.

No one is going to disagree, that is the way most people get rich nowadays, but those same people will say they hate the way people behave nowadays, and this is the effect of that cause. This "anti gouger" thing that is going on, in this forum right now, has not ONE thing to do with whether or not the activity is legal. But It is not the right thing to do, if you want to call yourself a good man. Call us idealists if you like, but "idealists" are what made this country great. Its why there is mentioning of religion all over the doctrine put in place by the founding fathers, and screwing people, is not something that most true god loving people are going to do.

You think that was THAT bad??? damn... little sensitive arent you?

Second thought... I am alittle testy tonight. I really do think that that kind of mindset is ruining this country, but I didnt mean to offend.

    Sorry if I did so.

I was frustrated at the last gun show too. Everything outrageous. I really didnt see to many people buying though. I decided afterward that it may be some time before I go to another one.
Who knows when all this will start to look normal again.

I'm just simply noting that the water argument is not a valid one.

People *need* water. They don't *need* ammo. Anything other than what is absolutely necessary to protect your family is a luxury. Pay the price or don't practice the luxury.

This is a short term shortage. It will not be this way forever. It's supply and demand at work. Supply will rise. Demand will fall, as will prices.

Will they fall to pre-panic prices? Maybe, maybe not. Demand may be a little higher permanently, which would increase price. Cost of materials may be going up as well. Ammo prices have steadily gone up over the years, panic or not. Somewhere in 05 or 06 if I remember correctly, .22lr bulk 550 packs were $13. The prices rose almost overnight to almost $20.

Plus, these Century WASR's are not rare!! They are everywhere and everyone seems to be asking 800 or more. My lgs has 7 of them, all sitting on the shelf, been there for months. Prices will be falling soon, people are starting to breathe again and not panic for these ridiculous prices. Once everyone figures out that our President lies and never does anything he says he will do, firearm prices will fall back down, and ammo will flow on the shelves again, until then we sit back, and appreciate the guns that we have that were bought at decent prices. I'm new to these forums, that is a fact, but if everybody quits buying these firearms at these prices, they have to come down. All we do when we buy them at these prices is supporting inflation.
