Glad you are okay! Whew, tough call!

Let's learn something from this! :)

To Shay and some others on the board: Given the "dangerous-ness" of a knife, what alternatives are available for us in regards to closed off or restricted areas, where firearms might be a liability, rather than an asset for us. Another knife? Barehanded to allow for maximum grappling? I understand that they should back up and deploy gun if capable (to keep them from cutting us or messing us up anymore than required), but what if not, such as the tight quarters of a gunshow booth, or in other areas that we can be jumped in?
9 times out of 10 (if 25 feet or under ) you are going to have to use some sort of h2h! If you have a knife thats good too as long as you know how to use it. But at that distance if you go for your gun first youre gonna get cut!:twocents:

Is there someone I can write or call to let him know I will not be attending the show?

    There you are.
Hey- Glad you were not hurt. Been busy and have not been on here for a while. Hate to sign in and find this out. Sounds like you did the right thing.
We carry when we are there. Always will. Hind sight is 20/20 for sure.
Why could they have not pressed charges for intimidation??
Promoter should have taken immediate control!!!!!! Not good. I may have handled that in a different way(meaning brought the police in anyway).
Do not let it get to you!:)

It's very dependent on the details of the situation.

I'm an advocate of movement and distance. They are free and give you time to do other things that may improve your situation.

At 2 or 3 feet against a knife, I'm probably going to want my own knife. They are easier to use and retain and do not require reloading. You give up the benefit of doing damage at distance, but you have to fight your way out of the hole anyway. But it's a bad place to be regardless of what weapon you choose.

You did good Knifelady, I just hope you don't let this guys b.s. cause you anymore pain. You are way to good of a lady to have to put up with this, the show promoter should be ashamed.
Have a great day Knifelady. I'm glad your ok.

As I look back on this I realize the mistakes I made. At the time I was actually relying on the door guy to help me out and then I realized he was not going to help me. As a female, I and most females tend to lean to a man for protection. I mean yes we can carry a gun but we still depend on our men for most of our protection. That was a mistake on my part as well. This is not to go over all of my mistakes but just to admit that I did make mistakes and I have learned a great deal from this.
I am very thankfull this did not excalate out of control and that noone got hurt especailly me. This has been pretty dramatic for me and of course I have been second guessing myself. I see this guys face at night when I try to sleep. Hopefully soon this will all go away.

Go buy yourself some "bad guy" targets, take your gun, and instead of seeing his face at night see it in the target while you show yourself you could have stopped him.

    It's cathartic. Seriously.

You have no reason to beat yourself up over it. There may have been a few things that could have been handled differently, but the fact remains, you did handle them. You did not allow it to continue and you were ready for further action if necessary. I'd say he should be seeing you in his sleep!

As usual I agree with Joe. You need to go do something with a little emotion attached to it! Get you pulse up, give yourself something else to think about. Wish you the best, have a good thanksgiving.

Like I said, keep a bigger knife (katana or machete) handy and chop his hands off.
See how well he can poke you with his stumps.

"What if I poke you with this?"
"What if I dice you butt with this?!"

I agree and Brad also agrees that this guy should have been arrested. The promoter said the cops would have done nothing because the customer kept saying what if, what if I stuck you. All I know I did not have a good safe feeling from this guy and I had a witness that felt uneasy as well and that is why he backed up and moved away from this guy too.

I can only speak for me but if I witnessed that, Joe :poop:head would of got the 5 second 70,000 volt ride. Approaching you behind the table making that "comment/question", I personally would of taken it at a threat to your life.
