HaHa.... that reminds me. Every time I pull up near some Harley guys and they say "when you gonna get a real bike?", I respond with "when I can afford a BMW".

I reply with "When are you?" Then ride away. actually, that's never happened. I've not met many HD snobs.

    Good one!

I had a guy at a NAPA tell me that I'd look so much better on a Harley. :xmad:

I didn't say anything, but I wanted to say 'I actually want to ride my bike, not just sit on it and look pretty while it sits in the shop'.

Seriously though, I have nothing against Harley, just the Harley snobs. Unfortunately I have met a few.

Same here.. Met many great people on Harley's and quite the opposite. Group rides they would not let me ride along with them.. Stuff like that. More good people than the snobs.

    Man that looks comfortable.

Like butter on an easy chair.... :D

I have a "backup" backrest for it. World of difference on an already most comfortable bike I have owned.
No pressure on your lower back, you don't feel like you have been doing pushups all afternoon when you get done either.
Heated seats and grips, power windshield, power anti-lock breaks, CB, Navigation, electronic cruise, I swapped the CD changer for an Ipod/Iphone interface.
Hold a **** ton of groceries or gear in the bags. Looks like a whale when you are standing next to it but handles like a sportbike.
You can get into them cheap too...... well, if you know how to do your own maintenance like me ;) .... only thing cheap on a bmw is the rider.

Anyone have experience with the new Indians? I figure I have a couple years yet before I decide to plunge into a scooter, but out of all the newer ones, the Indians appeal the most. If I could, I'd go straight for a 30s Henderson or Indian, but they are a little out of my reach...

Really...... this has actually happen to you?? More than once??

Those types are the minority, but It's happened to me numerous times. And quite often when riding my 98 VFR 800 to a shop for parts for the Harley I was building at the time. 80 iron head 1000 if I recall. Couldn't get rid of that piece of crap fast enough once I got it rebuilt.

Happens a lot actually. For some reason they think 165HP on a 430lb bike means it's a "bike for little boys". I have nothing against Harley.... just arrogant *******s who think the bike makes them something special.

...Now, imagine this bike with the tank off and the head off...along with everything attached to the head, awaiting new rings and a rebuilt head because someone let a bolt get sucked into the cylinder and since its apart, why not rings?...

    This past Saturday:

Finished assembling the head (previously rebuilt and painted)
Removed the cylinders and cleaned them thoroughly.
    Honed the cylinders.
    Scrubbed cylinders again.
    Painted the cylinders.
Removed the pistons, cleaned them up.
Checked ring end gap and installed rings.
Cleaned the old base gasket off the case (the real job)
    Reinstalled pistons.
    Reinstalled the cylinders.

    Sunday:

Installed the head, cam and cam chain tensioners.

    Next:

Ignition reinstall and adjust (points of course).
Install head cover and set valve clearance.
