The Exchange is a pretty good little bar, shame I've only been there once. Chickory Cafe has some good New Orleans type food and coffee, Fiddler's Hearth does a good job of authentic Irish food (if you order the big fry don't expect to eat for the rest of the day), and there is a good Cambodian or Thai place downtown whose name escapes me.I agree, the building and amenities are pretty good. The area, not so much. We were in a hurry, and took the last apartment in the building sight unseen. Hence the due diligence! The little bar downstairs is quite nice, Lasalle Grill, fantastic, and Monday I think I’m hitting the Exchange Whiskey bar. 400 Whisky/eys?
Don't forget the Original Bruno's on 23 by the bypass

With the Carters and Garth Brooks coming into town next week to hang with the regular peoples, South Bend should be safer than it ever was......
I walked downtown South Bend at night, it was lovely.
I also visited their library a bunch of times, also the Chocolate Café downtown.Lovely staff.
The gangs have pretty well made a lot of the south and west side of town. There would appear to be a several black gangs warring it out at the moment. Just about every weekend there is a shooting. A lot of them turn in to murders. Most turn out to be over drugs.
