I hadn't heard that name for him before...made me laugh.

He really has not done anything good as mayor there...crime is ridiculous. I never used to worry about going there to the doctor or to shop, etc. Now, I hate going there.

Expat, doubtful. I believe the presidential ambitions are not to lead... but to secure the rights to books, talk show appearances, and other things (untold wealth..er... underreported wealth).

Its interesting to see even even with the SB cubs and casino (both got him $$$$$)... SB still isn’t a place people want to go to. Michigan City is under 90 mins away and better... even with the prison.

I caught part of a radio show that talked about why he was picked. I don't understand it because I didn't hear the whole show. Something about a long term plan to turn Texas Democratic, eliminating forever the hopes of another Republican president. The show said he was just a stooge in the game. And he thought he was the chosen one. And the show said he hurt his chances by announcing early.

Mike Pence was picked way before it was announced, and he swapped out Lieutenant Governors for someone to take over as governor.

He is in the national spotlight and this will be a test in leadership. It looks like local support is waning.

Just going to add this last piece. I watched the 1 hour 20 minute video of the march. It was the mayor, police chief, family, some black lives matter folks, and a white organizor that seemed to be running the show.
The mayor seems honest and smart. He has an activist style, I'll help you if you help me. I didn't get a sense that he's a take charge kind of person, just not his style.
