Found an old aluminum boat a couple years ago in the middle of some woods in Lawrence county about a half mile from nearest road and more than a mile from the river. Too high of ground to ever have been flooded, so not sure if it was dumped or used there for something.

Sometime in the early 80s, we found a recently burned Pontiac Firebird on a farmers lane between two fields in Jennings county. The land owner knew nothing about it, so he called the sheriff. Turned out the car had been reported stolen a few days before.

Also have seen a fairly new jeep cherokee flipped upside down about 20 feet down in a quarry, went back to check on it a few times over a few weeks and every time something different would be missing! Tires, shocks, axles, cd player/speakers, now that I look back on it I probably should have called it in to see if it was stolen or something. Don't understand why someone would leave there some what new XJ layin down there! This thing was nice, had a lift on it and the whole 9 yards. I was young and dumb.

If you are talking about the one that was left in Beaver Quarry in Noblesville a few years ago, I still have some parts from it for sale if you're looking for Jeep parts.

The rear Dana 35 axle is on my buddy's XJ to this day. :D

For what it's worth, we waited a couple of weeks before we cannibalized it. :dunno: Getting the axles back up that cliff was a chore too....

Back before Mt St. Hellens blew its top, was hunting elk and stumbled on the wreck of a old plane, WWII looking. Wanted to go back the next season and but mother nature wiped it off the mao.

    A holler in Kentucky
Myself and my father in law were walking the woods of south central Missouri a few years back, looking for the old cabin his father was born in. We were maybe 3/4 of a mile off the closest road, which itself was in the middle of nowhere. As we crossed a mostly dry creek bed, we found, what we assume to be, a dinosaur track in a huge flat rock. It was maybe 10 inches across and about 12-14 long.

Also, in those same woods, I saw an Armadillo for the first time in my life.

Do they make good pets? :dunno: :D
Sure. They don't eat, don't bark, poop, chew your stuff up, etc..They are cool to look at, research, start conversations with, collect, etc....Some even wind up having monetary and/or historic value. Sometimes you even see them in museums and stuff.....I would never walk past one without trying to get it home anyways....but that's just me I guess.

BTW, I'm talking about the fossil, not the stupid armored rat.

I knew you were referring to the fossil.;) But no, it would have taken a huge assortment of heavy equipment to get it out of there. It was in a slab of rock probably 75 feet long and who knows how wide. I do, however have a shell and scull of an armadillo that I found not far from that spot.

I was walking through the woods looking for squirrels. I looked up, and right there, eye level, was a robin that got stuck in a knothole, headfirst

    There you are.
Found a dead deer once, back leg tangled up in the barb wire fence. It went between the strands of wire and the wires flipped over themselves trapping the deer by the hind leg. It was mostly gone, but as I went up to investigate closer,a opossum climbed out of the chest cavity. Pretty nasty!:puke:
Found a few different couples, mating in the back seat of there car when I used to ride my bike back to the woods all the time. One was my next door neighbor girl (we were classmates), have never forgot that. i just backed back into the woods and let them have their privacy, but always seemed to have a smerk on my face when I saw her after that.:D
