News reports this morning are now saying that the K-9 survived and should make a full recovery.

Prayers going out for the family of a fallen civil servant. May God fill in the gap left behind in the hearts of his family and friends.

I have it on good authority that Shadow, Officer Long's K-9, will be fine.

He was shot in the jaw, which shattered his lower jaw bone. He was stabilized locally and sent to a specialist.

Update on the individual involved. Looks like officer Long's death could have been prevented. Guy had a history and had served time before. Was sentenced to 12 years in 2005, but was released in 2010 according to the link below.
