The DOJ took Cody Wilson's "DEFCAD" 3D-print gun site down. Cody sued, and won.

From the linked page, "Significantly, the government expressly acknowledges that non-automatic firearms up to .50-caliber – including modern semi-auto sporting rifles such as the popular AR-15 and similar firearms – are not inherently military." It seems like this statement may be as significant, if not more so when it comes to defeating gun control efforts such as firearms bans.

I wonder how significant though. How does it compare to a judicial ruling?

Trump's hot take comes shortly after an op-ed by actress Alyssa Milano, who's apparently a gun expert, calling 3D guns "3D-printed death".

This whole 3D gun thing smacks of the furor over Glocks being "invisible" to metal detectors back in the day (which of course is not true). I get the concern over being non-serialized (kinda), but not the whole "undetectable" thing.

In a state of acute Pork-i-docis
Federal judge in Seattle issues temporary restraining order to stop release of blueprints to make untraceable and undetectable 3D-printed plastic guns.

This is ultimately a First Amendment “prior restraint” case. The files are already released, the judge is trying to be a dictator and prevent someone's 1A rights.

Feels like that Trump tweet about 3D printed guns should go in the "oddly quiet" thread... seeing as how oddly quiet people are about it.

I remember those days, you would have thought the Glocks were the Black Death when they first showed up. Right up there with the Teflon "cop killer" bullets.

I stopped by the LGS to look at one of those "invisible Glocks". I didn't see one :D

    Here's the restraining order.

It's an embarrassment. It's riddled with errors of fact and misstatements of law. It's like the judge copy/pasted an anti-gun brief without bothering to check whether any of it was accurate.

It doesn't even enjoin Cody, DD, or the 2A Foundation. Instead it's enjoining the State Department.

If this goes to SCOTUS, it should be a 9-0 shutdown.

People talking about the 3D gun situation online are actually dumb enough to think there's no metal. It really is a stupid topic that a lot of very uninformed idiots are involved in.

His files are not even that good. There are plenty of better engineers out there producing better quality stl's. Plus he is always pimping donations and sales of his proprietary printers.

Yeah he's nothing special with regards to the files... it's more the principle of it. Plenty of superior files out there. The Shuty AP9 is pretty amazing.
