    You're posing that the UTR isn't actually right-wing, but left-wing? C'mon JT.

That website predicted the future....I mean, it was put up in 1998, right?

Anyhoo, and to be serious for a moment, out at the violent fringes, terms such as "right wing" and "left wing" lose all meaning...unless the aim is to paint the less extreme, or the not extreme at all, as violent extremist supporters.

They idea that people would advocate a position they don't really, deep down, believe in- just for the money.

    How offensive and disgusting.

What if the sides aren't what we think at all?

    https://market-ticker.org/post=232300

Might explain some of my confusion.

Been trying to figure out how a communist/socialist ideology can be politically "right".

It seems to be that a large number of social/political groups coin terms and names that really have nothing to do with their cause.

I read it as posing that occupy wallstreet and the UTR are both instigated and actively organized by outside actors. Not so much "alt right is left wing" as much as "UTR is a scam like occupy wall street was a scam".

Quick googling suggests that Kessler doesn't hide the fact that he's a convert. (I'm reminded of the adage that converts make the worst kind of zealots.) Apparently, the truth was revealed to him in 2013 such that he now fights for what he believes is the truth: white supremacy.

So, let's say your local municipality was chosen by certain groups for a "Unite the Right" (UTR) gathering. Neo-nazis, white supremacists, identity types (but not sovereign citizens, because they don't need to gather, and Article 4, section 69 says so), will be gathering to protest "diversity" and "genocide."

Naturally, a counter-protest is also being planned.

Just wondering if there's an INGO consensus on what individuals would do.

I"d stay home/watch live-streams. It doesn't really matter what my opinion is on the matter, I object to participating in bringing people from outside of my community, especially if thing will get violent. I really feel for the residents of Charlottesville who just wanted everyone to go the **** home. Washington DC is the place to demonstrate nationally. If there's a local rally for something I'm interested in, yes, maybe I'll participate depending on my interest in it. I CC just about everywhere I'm legal to CC, so yes, if it's legal to carry at the local rally, I'd be armed anyway because of that. But I'm not going to be part of importing protestors from both sides all over the country to come here and trash my community.

In a sense both ideologies he espoused are statist, I suppose it's just that he's become more racist.

That seems to be the progression.

But, certain people have made a bunch of headlines and money advocating racist ideologies, even getting political power out of the deal.

Primary source for those derisive of Denninger's site:

    https://www.splcenter.org/fighting-hate/extremist-files/individual/jason-kessler

Rumors abound on white nationalist forums that Kessler’s ideological pedigree before 2016 was less than pure and seem to point to involvement in the Occupy movement and past support for President Obama.

At one recent speech in favor of Charlottesville’s status as a sanctuary city, Kessler live-streamed himself as an attendee questioned him and apologized for an undisclosed spat during Kessler’s apparent involvement with Occupy. Kessler appeared visibly perturbed by the woman’s presence and reminders of their past association.

The ratcheting up of identity politics has many sequelae, and as the term suggests, none positive that I can think of.

Oh wait...I just applied this broadly to all identity politics. That means I must be a white supremacist.

Maybe that doesn't mean what I think it means.

But, more seriously, not really Wiki's fault that "White Pride" has been co-opted by White Supremacists.

Kinda like "Unite the Right" - which seems practical and friendly enough until you see the guest list.

I've never understood ethnic-based pride, myself. I'm proud of carpentry projects, or writing a book, or my kid learning how to play guitar.

Man, you had better never move to the east coast. You'll be confused all day everyday with all the Irish, Italian, Polish, German, Greek, and Puerto Rican pride.
