If by some chance I have occasion to have to go to Walmart, I'll carry concealed as I always have.
Just like I do at other Indiana businesses with this policy.
And if they notice and ask me to leave, I'll just leave.

Nail hit right on the head. It drives me bonkers. Tripping over $5 bills to pick up a quarter.
We see it everywhere all the time.
Another trigger is the word "Cheap/Cheapest".The word means cheaply made or junk. I see a thread started with the word "Cheap" whatever and my eyes go crossed.
So you buy the most expensive ammo, why would you do that? If more expensive is better you should shop at Trader Joe"s Those that have to make their income stretch (poor people) really don't have a lot of choice when household goods are needed.

Lemme get my flame suit on...

I think I might be the only guy here that is actually not that pissed about this... They've asked you, under full daylight and transparency, to not OPEN carry in their stores because barely days after someone shot one of them up some jack wagon walked into a Walmart with a rifle (not even slung!) as a "protest"/social experiment, and freaked absolutely everyone out (as I would have as well if I saw that). Walmart's business is not to be our soapbox for 2A demonstrations and I wouldn't let that fly at a business I owned either. OUR bad apple is what caused this. I'd like to have smacked that kid for doing something so stupid. We're supposed to be ambassadors of the firearms community when we're carrying; not out terrifying the locals.

The not selling of ammo is obviously a gesture to the gun banners, and I don't approve, but Walmart doesn't sell porn either (or even explicit lyrics albums) and I'm not all offended about my first amendment right to it. Plus, actual sporting goods stores always have better sales anyhow if you're buying more than a box, which of us are.

So... I wasn't a big Walmart shopper to begin with (haven't been in years, actually... order online sometimes), but this won't push me out of doing business with them. They've asked me to do something I feel is reasonable (carry concealed) because some of our own just don't know how to act. I can live with that. Frankly, I wish they'd kick more idiots out of their stores...

What I can't live with are the businesses that shadow ban guns (banned at the corporate level, but only signs on the doors where their market approves) like Costco. You want to play both sides of the issue and be cowardly in your actions, I won't be doing business with you. Costco in particular pisses me off because so many 2A guys shop there since they CATER to our lifestyle, except in writing. Hell with them...

I say boycott the place and shop at stores that either got rid of guns and ammo decades ago or never sold them at all.

Am I saying don't boycott them? Nope. I understand why we would want to- just pointing out the logical end of a boycott.

Meijer- no guns anymore, some rifle and shotgun ammo.
K-Mart- no guns or ammo anymore (I got my Marlin 60 there 25 years ago).
Local grocery store?- If there's one that sells guns and ammo, let me know.
I personally don't care that they are not going to still sell handgun ammo and whatever they think short barreled rifle ammo is.

I do care about them telling me not to open carry in their store though. I sent them an email this morning explaining that they had lost a customer and why. I've open carried there for seven years. I doubt it will make a bit of difference to them.

I've been quasi boycotting Walmart for years. Only visit them once or twice a year. Pretty simple to let Amazon or eBay ship to my door for those odd items.

No reason to contend with that bazaar crowd now.

If Walmart really is lobbying for gun control, it would be foolish for any gun owner to support their organization in any way. Sam's, gas, online, whatever...

I went to walmart primarily to get oil and filters for oil changes. Local parts stores are nearly double the price on the oil I use. However, as I was shopping online for oil at other places I found a farm store that is actually cheaper on oil and filters so that eliminates any need I have to visit a Walmart. Good riddance to them.
I don’t understand these corporate honchos alienating large percentages of a customer base, especially to cater to the whims of people that probably don’t shop there anyway.

I've never bought Chinese Ammo before, and I doubt I start tomorrow.

When Sam died, the greedy ass kids ruined what was once a great American company. The left has always hated on Walmart, because, you know success. Walmart has thrived in rural America, and conservatives. We'll see how this affects there bottom line. I'm guessing they won't notice our outrage. To many people rely on Walmart, as it's the only choice. Not for ammo, but as a grocery or retail store. Drive through any small town Main Street, the grocery, hardware, and general retail stores are long gone. Now, they're head shops, or tattoo parlors.

If Walmart opens a meth, weed and heroin aisle, then puts a tattoo parlor between the bank and the eye doctor, Main Street will be for lease, cheap.

'Cause open carry of a rifle shows everybody how operatory I am. :dunno:

Or because we are our own worst enemy.

So did they at least put all the ammo on clearance or are they still making sure they make a profit?

Follow the money. If Walmart really felt that not selling Ammo would save lives they would simply destroy it. Instead they are going to keep selling it until they cash out on their current inventory. Nice media splash that shows they “did something” no matter how useless.

Upon reflection, the ONLY reason I made a trip to Walmart in the last several months was to buy 9mm range ammo. I bought some other stuff while I was there, but the main reason was to pick up 9mm range ammo.
Now I don't need to go there for any reason. Screw 'em......
