Please explain those? I've never heard of them and google did not enlighten me.

Jackass meaning improvised in a fairly strange way. I stood and held on the post of the covered line with my left hand and held the AR with that hand as well. More stable than offhand. Royce was seated with the magazine rest on the bench but not stable at all. A serious shooter would not have done it in a serious application.

There term Jakass was used for such position in the "Art of the Rifle".

Took the carbine to the range today. Shot twenty rounds off hand at 150 yards. Hit better than half. I was not happy with that. Loaded up another twenty and used the sling to steady things and went 8 for 10 on hits. Jack ass braced with the sling in play went 10 for 10 at 240 yards. Pretty happy with that.

Shot some rounds from concealed with the carry gear today. Shot the Casino drill a number of times. Had four clean runs but as slow as they were they should have been clean. Had three runs with a miss. Had one other run with for the six shots on the 6 under the six in a great little group, so the fastest run did not really count.

Did some SHO and WHO only work at 7 yards. It went pretty well. Worked some quickly, carefully and precisely that I was please with. Worked some up drills with the AR both with Iron and scope at 10 yards. So that is 2 weeks in a row with some rifle work.

Alyssa was along and got in some quality practice with her carry gun. She has some issues going on that need fixed. They are all trigger press related and we will be working on that before class on the 24th and 25th of March. The ammo we have for class ran well in her gun.

I'm shooting more matches = more practice and I've actually gone to the range a few times to shoot groups.

Went to the range on the first day of spring. It was cold. I was there from 8 to 3. Outside most of the time. I did sit in the truck and warm the feeling back into my hands several times. Did some range work on target stands for the first part of the day.

Started shooting Aron Bright seconds from an ammo standpoint in 9mm, from the Glock 17, at 42 yards. I shot approximately 75 rounds. I am doing this to work on both distance shooting and trying call shots at that distance and press the trigger straight to the rear. I need more work. It got better. Distance is a focus since I am attending nationals in October and it will have distance. This part was ok. Not great, not terrible.

Next was "The Gauge". I broke out the semi auto Gauge and did some work on small steel with birdshot at about 17 yards and plates at 10 yards with 20 yards between the left and right end of the array. All runs were under five seconds. I left a plate up once or twice. There was a popper up once or twice but I hit them several times that I know I hit them and they did not go down just wobbled. 3.47 with all steel down was the best time. From High ready the fastest first shot was 1.14. From low ready it was .87. Nothing to brag about but the Gauge in semi auto went fine. It was cold out there.

The Gauge in pump was next. Best time on the same array was 3.95 with all down. Had a 3.67 with a popper up, but I suspect it was hit. But that would not hold up in court. I also got a 1.14 from high ready, and .65 from low ready. Pretty happy with the Gauge in the pump model.

The Brazos came out next. Groups at 42 yards. Shot a ton of alpha's with it at that range. I had some factory seconds from Federal. 180 grain. They all went bang today. Plus I have some really nice once fired brass back.

I set up five targets in a V shape with the point at 12 yards and the two ends at 35 yards. Transitions and distance with a table top start position. There were times I was very impressed with myself, and a couple of times I thought I should sell my guns and start golfing. I was able to work on a front sight focus and calling shots in this period. Now I need the discipline that when I see the sights and aimed at the delta to not just go ahead and press the trigger. I tried to get better at that as the session went on. I was moderatly successful but have a lot more work to do.

I added the three small poppers and nearly 20 yards and 2 plates at about 12 yards. I shot this 15 rounds course about 15 times. It was tough and some of the shooting was very good practice. I had one run that was simply and abortion. I had some really stellar runs. Need some consistency.

Next I broke our the AR and shot the same array but only the paper. Used the scope some and the iron sights some. I am better with the iron sights.

Carry gun was next. Used the same array as the Brazos. Shot it about five times. Really focused on hits and got them. Used the same array to for some SHO and WHO work. For SHO I shot the steel freestyle and then four targets SHO. Targets were 12 to 17 yards away. Did it five times only 1 miss SHO. DID the same array for WHO. Shot the steel freestyle threw that gun down and drew the backup and hit the paper. Five runs only one mike. Pretty happy with the carry gun.

Did some one shot work on a hostage target at 8 yards. Did 17 draws and only missed once with the pistol, and did not hit the hostage.

Broke out the social lever gun and fired six rounds on the paper array from 47-50 yards on the far targets. 100% hits. John Wayne would have been proud.
Shot three rounds at the hostage target with good results at about 17 yards.

Picked the crap up, and went to the rifle ranges.

15 rounds from a braced Jackass standing position. 100% hits. Distances from 100 yards to 240 yards

1 magazine prone with 100% hits. Distances from 100 yards to 240 yards.

A cold day. But pretty productive.

Have vowed to get at least 4 sessions live fire in this year with the Gauge and I have two complete. Might actually over achieve on that.

Just completed the FPF Training Advanced Concealed Carry Tactics class. I am much closer to being a Steely eye dealer of death than ever before.

I have taken a Tom Givens class in October 2017, attended the Rangemaster Tactical Conference in March 2018, have taken John Murphy's Advanced Concealed Carry: Tactics and Skills. Now I am going to practice and incorporate what I have learned into that practice.

Wait, wait, wait, that is taking it a little too far. Seriously though, I can't count the number of people I see year after year in a class I am taking or teaching who have not improved. I love going to classes, it is great, if you don't practice what you learned however it was wasted money.

I went out to RCC after school tonight to practice. The focus was going to be with my Limited gun. Which I broke about 150 rounds into the session. Dropping it off to the gun smith in the morning on the way to school. Not sure what happened but I have a theory.

I have a Gen 5 Glock 34 on hand to review for Front Sight Magazine. I shot it for about another 150 rounds. I then broke out the M&P 2.0 that I carry and got in 70 rounds with it.

I had the AR in the truck and I shot about 80 rounds worth of transition drills with it. I was pleased with the AR work. Salvaged the night so to speak.

Broke a hammer strut which the gun smith says never happens. I have a gift. Part should be here in three days.

Need to figure out what I am doing at steel on Saturday now. Might just shoot Limited and Single Stack with a .45.
