    Depends on where I'm hunting

Private land: AR Pistol or 20" AR in 6.5 Grendel
Public land: Marlin 1894 in .357 Mag or a Remington 1100 with a short 12 Ga slug barrel

Any one or more of these. Mossberg 500 12 gauge w/ smoothbore slug barrel and Federal Tru-Ball slugs, Remington 700 CDL B&C Club rifle in .30-06, Knight Disc rifle in .50 cal, Remington 700 muzzleloader in .50 cal, Ruger Super Blackhawk Hunter in .44 mag w/ Hornady Custom 300 gr. XTP, S&W 329PD with CCI 240 gr. SJHP, or my Glock 40 with Underwood 200 gr. XTP. If I am hunting tight cover on our property, the handguns get the nod. The Mossy and the muzzleloaders for nearby National Forest ground, and the .30-06 for the fields. I like options.....:)

    1. Model 94 30/30 inherited from grandfather.
    2. occationally I’ll pull out the .270
    3. Sometimes, even in rifle season, the Savage 10ml makes an appearance. Fun gun and capable beyond 200y.
    4. I’ve always carried a G23 in the woods. If something walked within 10y or so, I wouldn’t rule out a handgun shot this year.

    Not far from the tree
Used to be a H&R break action 20 ga rifled slug gun. It will put Remington Buckhammer lead slugs in a golf ball at 100 yds.
Last time out was a Tikka 595 in .243 Win. I still have 1/2 dozen hand loads with 85 gr Gamekings that need used.
But my new 6.5 Creedmoor will get blooded this year. If my old Mathews SQ2 doesn't see something b4 gun season.

The state made an exception for the 10mm and .40 S&W-both legal now.

I'm not sure about the 10mm and the .40 s&w in both pistol and rifle? If we are discussing 10mm auto not the 10mm magnum. The 10mm magnum is some wildcat cartridge I guess? The case specs happened to pop up when I searched 10mm which meets the case length requirements at 1.255". That round I know nothing about nor even seen, I can't really find much info on it but it does come up when you search it.

Handgun case length "WITHOUT" the bullet has to be minimum 1.16" - no maximum limit...

Rifles for public and private 1.16" minimum case length to a maximum 1.8"...

For public rifle cartridges must be a minimum of 1.16" with a max of 3"...

going by a quick google search 10mm case length .992".

.40 s&w is obviously much shorter lol.

I'm reading this directly from Deer Regulations | Indiana Hunting Seasons & Regulations ? 2018 | eRegulations

I don't mean to wonder off the main thread topic, but reading that I don't think the 10mm and .40 are legal in either style firearm. please correct if I miss read it :dunno:

Check the second to last paragraph under “Handguns” in the link you cited. It is specific to handgun only.
