    Only one? Ouch....tough...

Would have to learn towards the M1A...if this surrounds a "SHTF only weapon I have left" scenario though a Ruger 10/22 would feed you, sorta defend you and ammo should be relative easy to scavenge....in a rather boring and mundane kinda way.

Scar wins on the "Oh Yea!" factor though...

    1. M1A - almost no explanation needed...
    2. FAL - Accurate enough, and I just really like them.
    3. AR10 - No worse than the other two, but I find it as a generally "boring" option.
    4. Nice bolt gun probably a Savage 10/Remmy

I'm not good at picking one of anything...

    For a general, all purpose rifle I would consider;
    - Galil ACE
    - FAL Para/Carbine
    - M1A SOCOM CQB
    - Sig MCX

I would of said SCAR as well if it wasn't for the price limitation. But damn for a SCAR with a good optic and mags your already over 3k

I used to think a SCAR 16 would be cool because then I could afford to shoot it, but then I got to thinking... If ever get to buy a SCAR I'll be doing pretty good fincially I would think and could probably afford to shoot .308 haha

a .308, magazine fed, m1 garand? Seems to be a lot of work to just make a garand into an M14 when you can just buy an M14. ;)

NOW if it were in .30-06 then I might be interested :)

I'm with you there, but the only hitch would be that magazines for it would be damn near impossible to find, quite unlike with .308.

Sorry, my bad. I thought I was choosing a rifle for me, not you. You can choose anything you like! :dunno:

nothing wrong with an ar-15 or an ak 47 if you are so inclined...my real advice would be to by a $800 ar and a cz scorpion:rockwoot:then put the rest into ammo***get the cz i suggested above...I have seen some bad reviews on the beretta though.

I would have my Marlin Camp .45 ACP integrally silenced and put a good red dot on it.

Since this is hypothetical, depending on the hunting laws of where you'd be at I'd either buy a lever action 44mag or a Savage 308 with a 20" heavy barrel. If I was concerned for life and limb, it'd probably be an M1A scout. I've always lusted after one of those.

In all honestly, for $2,000 you can a scoped savage precision rifle that's good out to 1,000 yards along with a lever action 44, a marlin 6o semi auto 22 and a glock 9mm if you really looked for the right deals.
