I don't know what "properly setup" would be, but I've test driven several stock Wranglers of various generations. I don't want to sit 6" from a flat dashboard, I don't want the headlights to point at the sky when I floor it and I don't want them in the mud when I dive on the brakes, I don't want body roll, I don't want wind noise, I don't want the noise of a soft top or the PITA factor of removing a hard top. So...probably not going to be a Wrangler.

LOL you make me want to sell my wrangler now....

They are great for what they are for. I'm just not in to off roading any longer, nor am I looking for a giant Lego set for men.

SRT/10 Dodge Ram. Viper V10 and right around 20k for a low miles version.

Too similar to what I already drive (and am keeping).

Chevy SS. 4 door sleeper with 415 hp.

Too sleeper. Looks like a wedge.

370Z... mad sexy, not a dime a dozen like pony cars, not too expensive. It's a head turner.

    Too furrin.

In classic INGO fashion, I'll recommend something that meets almost none of your stated criteria.

    Lotus Elise.

I say listen to your yoot. Go after that chevelle that you dreamed of. A decent driver clone SS could be had under $20k. I'm sure there are some INGOrs that would be willing to check one out for you before you made the decision.

Something without a top, V8, as much as I like rowing a shifter I'd recommend a slushbox, rear drive of course. I enjoyed my C4 and am actually considering purchasing another one. I'd love to have a new challenger or coyote mustang but don't want to part with the required coin.

My own personal stable includes a 63 Galaxie hardtop, 65 Mustang notch racecar and an 89 Mustang GT Convert. The Galaxie and racecar are more closely related to boxes of parts but dayum the convertible sure can improve a sour mood on a nice day!!

I test drove a C5 convertible today. It's probably not for me. It's a lot of fun to drive, but you can't see out of it and it's so low I couldn't see over a Civic to see if it was clear to turn right. The price was right and it's a sexy car...but it's more of a highway/country road fun and city driving would make me anxious.

Oh geez... I'm betting you have more than a few miles logged in under your belt. Don't be an old fogey. If you liked it, buy it.

My wife specifically told me "no old man cars" because she knows I would have come home with a Lincoln. I sort of am an old fogey.

I do want to look at a Mustang, though. It may be a midlife-crisis-mobile, but I want my wife and son to enjoy it as well. 3 of us can't go on road trips in the 'Vette unless someone rides in the trunk.

The reason I got rid of the C4 is because I got tired of a car I had to fall into and climb out of. Thanks! Now I've talked myself out of another one!:rockwoot:

    I have been lusting after a 7 series BMW lately though. . . .

I loveloveloved my Mustang. The weather up here and my work commute through the unplowed roads of Gary just did not cooperate. :(

Besides, if you drive a vette, it's law that you have to wear a ball cap. So no more fedora for you!

That abomination looks like something a WWE wrestler would drive. :puke:

You need a real Charger. Works for me.

But the 5.0 Mustang is OK for a driver.

Leadeye, you have consistently fine taste whether it is cars or guns :yesway:

This is good advice - the car fits your criteria and you get the bonus of listening to your yoot.

When we're done with this project, we need to find for rhino the smallest used crossover SUV that will fit him.
