On the topic of crowdfunding, there was a front-page link on Reddit... ton of users coming together to help the victim.

I don't think I'd go the "media is underplaying this" route too hard. It's getting pretty big coverage across the board. Some outlets may omit a word or two, but the casual viewer is going to see what happened pretty clearly.

Both "right" and "left" are sufficiently horrified by this situation. (Shame that even needs to be said... anyone can and should agree on this sort of thing without thinking about political motivation.)

Skirting the real issues here in respect to the possible riots/marches as they were great kids.
Just getting this out there 1st.

This was no mistake. The actions were planned.
Putting it on social media was a mistake.

No doubt. I have an active case with IMPD and the nail in the coffin were two instagram posts. They didnt say what they did wrong, but in one post they admitted somebody busted them, and another person in the party posted that she was glad she didnt get in trouble that night. SMH

My only disagreement would be that I would like your brand of punishment handed out to anyone who treated other people like this. Regardless of whether they had racist intentions or not, they certainly (as CM pointed out) have some brand of hate in their heart.

I absolutely agree with you that anyone who would do something like this should never taste freedom again but I think it is important to recognize the difference between someone doing this to an individual they know and have some reason to hate versus doing this to someone they don't know and who they've singled out for some arbitrary reason.

That was a really long sentence

The live streaming is actually worse than just the crime. In my mind, it shows that the woman streaming was absolutely fine with what was going on and happy to share it with the world. What I didn't realize until reading some of the articles is this might have been over a day of captivity.

I guess I'm happy that I can't even fathom how someone could: 1 - Think of doing this, 2 - Think it was OK.

I'm happy that the victim will recover, and the four people involved will likely have their lives ruined forever. They will deserve the unemployment and/or prison time.

I have a hard time believing that they would have anything to which they could compare "unemployment".

What is the term for this? Sociopathy? That girl has zero compunction. None of them did, but they guys were worked up at least. She was cool and calm as can be. It was alarming, really, and also a poignant image comin from a pretty young girl (fake red hair notwithstanding).

At work complaining on the internet, being less productive, as an illegal immigrant says to another "see that's why we take their jobs."?

And apparently wanting a trophy for not doing the wrong thing. SMH. It's like when my kids used to say "look, dad, I washed my hands after going to the bathroom!" Umm, ok. You want a medal for that?

As a parent of an Autistic daughter this incident is bringing out the worse in me....I believe I shall stay out of this thread...It just plain hurts too much and when I hurt I sometimes say things I regret....

Yeah, me too now that I've watched the video and read about it. There's a dozen fitting titles for this thread that I can up with in one minute, none of which are fit for print.

    Danger: 50,000 volts.
