The struggle is real. Such persecution.

Don't worry, I won't post anything else to upset you. You have your beliefs and I have mine. Although maybe you should look into why yours are apparently so fragile.

I'm out of this "inartful" thread. :):
You are once again so wrong about things. What you are saying doesn't offend me, the fact that you are trying so hard to offend others here does. I may not agree with the religious beliefs of people, but I would not attack them. Their beliefs are their own, just as are mine.

I'll post one more time, since you seem to misunderstand. This whole thread started with the OP's garbage title, which can basically be translated into "Hurr-durr, atheists are miserable," despite the fact that the linked article does not mention agnostics, atheists or atheism even once. I don't think that you'll find many on INGO that don't agree that SJW's are, by and large, a miserable lot. I don't find much to disagree with in the linked article. But why the slam against atheists in the thread title? Who is attacking who here?

Inartful? That's almost as political a word as "misspoke." OP should run for office, although he might do well to avoid assuming facts not in evidence the next time he honestly wants to start a conversation, instead of starting with an inflammatory thread title and then blaming "INGO" and running off when things devolve into exactly what he should have expected.

How can you plead to be "left alone" and then also advocate for branding religious iconography all over public institutions and shoving YOUR beliefs down everyone else's throat? How is that being "left alone"? Just sounds like you want to be "free" to steamroll your **** all over everyone else.

Separation of church and state is written into the constitution. If you don't respect that, you are by definition un-American. Believe as you will, practice as you will, but that stuff remains under your hat when it comes to governance.
No actualy it is not written into the constitution. No one is making you now down to a God. If you dont like it just ignore the ten commandments when you see them. Not really bad advice on them roght?

Wellpoint proven. Nonbelievers cannot let those who do be content in their faith so they mock and laugh at them and call God a liar and accuse Christian's of being gullable idiots.
Noone called your moms a whore. If you dont believe in anything except non believing then that's fine, do so silently. Unless atheism is a cult you're trying to recruit for and then I guess it's a religion and the tearing down of religious symbols is also a religious act and there is no place for that either according to you're reasoning?

The particular radicals the article was talking about are atheists. They are lovers of atheist philosophers. It is clear. The article compares the radicalism to a religion and specifically states that it is a religion that has nothing to do with God.

    Kinda sensitive, it seems.

Anyhoo, the point is that they have a faith- a faith in their own oppression that causes them to want to destroy everything vaguely traditional. They break up into groups and attack each other. Some of their fellow radicals are not radical in exactly the same way, so they are hated.

They see violence everywhere. When they don't see it, they assume they are not looking hard enough.

These people are worthy of pity. My point was that we have to head these thoughts off at the pass. I'll come right out and say it.

If we raise kids who see no joy, satisfaction, morality, goodness or love in our lives, they will rightfully assume that the older generation is the problem with everything.

A significant number (if not most) come from broken homes. Even when not, their parents have unhealthy relationships. They have been coddled and seen their parents spend more time and energy giving the kids everything they could want than spent on the marriage. Even the pets are treated more kindly than spouses in some cases.

They have observed parents who cared more about careers, or money, or fun, or distraction than each other or being decent people and doing good.

Solid marriages are the foundation of society. Everyone knows it. If the kids see no good marriages, they will start to believe that society itself is irredeemable. In a sense, they would be right.

If we value our family, parents, kids, above almost everything else, but in a positive way, it can only hope.

How many of these SJW kids had meals together as a family with both parents present at least 10 times a week? How many lived in a household where Mom and Dad NEVER argued about the children in front of them?

These young radicals are sad. They are angry. They are hurt. They are damaged. Sure, they are wrong, but they didn't just wake up one day and decide to reject everything. No. They saw nothing positive about the microcosm of society they lived in every day. Their families failed them no less than the families of inner-city gang members failed them.

    Let's do better.
This post is so spot on it gave me chills. Very very insightful and true

I wish people would stop oppressing atheists.

I wish people would stop seeking to wear oppression as some badge of honor.

Wellpoint proven. Nonbelievers cannot let those who do be content in their faith so they mock and laugh at them and call God a liar and accuse Christian's of being gullable idiots.

What are the results of the "other foot test" here?

"If you choose to believe something without sufficient evidence to make a compelling case for veracity of that thing thats fine, do so silently." IDK...sounds like bull**** to me.

Atheists, even the most crass and childish among us, have every right to declare their religion at the top of their lungs as much as believers in the supernatural do. I think this goes hand-in-hand with KG's 'oppression' quip...if me simply stating the facts of my belief counts as mocking or laughing at believers...well, what would you imagine the Christian-Industrial complex looks like to a nonbeliever?

To some atheists, it looks like a ubiquitous and relentless attack on what they "know" to be true...and we get groups trying to outdo one another in the oppression olympics.

I really think there is plenty of room in America, both physically and ideologically, to allow believers and non-believers to carve out their own places...I believe America is for everyone. We have to find a way past this idea that we are enemies. We're not. We are neighbors with disparate views, but often very common goals...a quiet and peaceful life for themselves and those they love.

Please, let's not build and skewer straw men...it really gets us nowhere.

I’ll not seek to wear that badge. My belief transcends oppression and your mockery means nothing to me. Carry on as you wish.

That wasn’t directed at you...I was agreeing with your point. When someone starts in with all the ‘oppression’ talk it makes me take their point rather less seriously.

You think I wrote that to mock you? I...I didn’t realize my words would be read like that. My apologies.

But you don't believe in anything so all you are doing by commenting to and with Christian's is to taunt or bait them for your own sick pleasure. I am not a super religious person. Most organized religion and the hypocrites that belong to it make me sick. I dont go around wearing faith on my chest. I've struggled with what I believe in for years because of various life experiences, but I do believe.
I dont hurt no one. I dont try to preach to anyone. But Paul what you and others do it like a non baseball fan going and trolling baseball fans and making fun of their team. You dont even believe in the game yet you think you belong in the discussion. Its attention seeking. Not hugged enough? I dont know.
Dont believe and you think it's a farce. Ok got it. But then you troll people who do and call their sanity into question for believing in a story as you call it. To Christian's that has it's own deffinition but since you dont believe I dont see a reason in discussing it. Jesus would have said, get behind me satan.
I'll add I have nothing against you paulF but you have a obvious hate for religion. I dont know why. Just let it be

Fair enough. If my voice isnt welcome I won’t participate. Better than to force the situation.

    Your voice is always welcome.....
If you're singing marry had a little lamb and someone comes in singing row row row your boat, then it's not welcome.
You have a group of people who believe in something and another group completely does not believe and a step further seeks to disprove and ridicule what you believe, not to convert you but simply for their own enjoyment and in order to feel like they are right.
I cant see the wind but I can feel it and it is there. I cannot make you feel it if you don't come outside though or look out the window and see its effects on the earth.
    Welcome? No

That's so not true. Paul is asking questions, questioning the beliefs. That is not the same as taunting or baiting them. This is why I don't discuss religion or politics with family or friends. People hold these beliefs so close to them that mere questioning is interpreted as a personal insult. That is why this thread has gone down that path it is currently on. But this is a 2 way street. People don't want to hear about my politics or my lack of faith, I'm good with that. But the reverse is true, I don't want to hear about how religiously devout you are (not you personally Trigger) or what your opinion of the current state of politics.

I love having conversations about faith with everyone. After all, it doesn't do much good to literally preach to the choir.

God is patient and loving, delaying the day of judgment so that everyone might be saved.

I don't know if I'd call apologetics a hobby of mine, but it is something that I enjoy. Always have a reason for your faith and be willing to defend it. I do believe that people are moved by personal testimony. No one ever got into a relationship by reading a pamphlet.
