Anyplace in Indiana to try out a 50 BMG?

I have a co-worker who wants to try out a 50 BMG. Are there any ranges in central Indiana (or any reasonable drive from Indy) where someone can rent/try one out? Thanks!

      Illinois CCL for non-residents?

Anyone have any knowledge of whether Illinois offers a concealed carry license to non-residents and if anyone in the Indy area is doing classes? I'm not having much luck finding good info online. Thanks!

      S&W M&P 10

Does anyone happen to know if any of the Indy area shops regulary have M&P 10's in stock? I'm considering purchasing one of these rifles and I'd prefer to buy local vs have to order over the internet. Thanks

Any Indiana shops keep 1903's in stock?

I may soon be in the market for a 1903A3 rifle. Any shops in central Indiana keep old milsurps like this (or Enfields for that matter) in stock? Most shops I frequent mostly just have handguns and the usual assortment of AR's and AK's (not that there's anything wrong with that). Also, if anyone...

Need advice on a red dot

Definitely take a look at the Bushnell TRS-25. I just recently bought another from Palmetto State for well under $100. Personally, if I were going to spend much more than that I'd rather save up a bit more and go all the way to an Aimpoint. The bangswitch.com has a review of budget red dots that...

Some Democrat Lawmakers get it RIGHT..

Right, wrong or indifferent, politics IS a team sport. Whichever party is in the majority in each house of congress gets to push their agenda. If you send enough D's to Washington, the D agenda will win the day, and versa vice. That may not be idealistic, but that is how our system works.

      AR-15 build parts

Sounds like a good basic build to me. A lower is pretty much a lower (though Spikes is well respected). Can't go far wrong with a BCM barreled upper and BCG.

      Where do I find a semi-auto MP5?

Tim at Military Arms Channel (and Copper Customs) has a really good youtube video on the POF (Pakistani Ordinance) MP5 clone. As mentioned by others, Atlantic Firearms also carries this and a couple of 'in house' versions of the MP5. New: POF-5 9mm pistol - YouTube

      Kahr M1 carbine

I like the M1 carbine, but I don't really see it as an 'alternative' to the AR, it's a very different animal. The .30 carbine round is essentially a pistol cartridge, not a rifle cartridge. Ammo is also very expensive and not as readily available on the shelf. It is a lot of fun to shoot though...

      VZ58 Handguard and Mags

So I bought one of the bargain VZ58 clones from Palmetto. I shot it at the range once and quickly realized 2 things: First, the folding stock sucked, it has already been replace with a fixed polymer from czechpointusa. Second, the beaver-barf handguard got excessively warm, to the point of being...

      .22s at Gander Mountain

Paul. I respectfully disagree. Items have no such thing as intrinsic value. An item is worth whatever the market will bare at any given time. The fact that the market value is 'artificially inflated' in the opinions of some is not relevant. You hit the nail on the head when you noted that you...

      .22s at Gander Mountain

The retailers aren't doing any of us any favors by refusing to raise prices to market levels. When they keep prices low, the reselling/secondary market is inevitable. It assures that those of us who actually have jobs will find empty shelves 99% of the time. The result is that if we manage to...

Any good deals on AR lowers at the 1500?

You can get a stripped lower for around $50 at Palmetto, but then you'll probably have another $30 give or take in a transfer. Best price on lowers I saw at the last 1500 was around $65 plus tax, which is pretty hard to beat for a non-polymer lower. If you're going to the 1500 anyway, you may as...

      Dust Cover Issue

How thick is the duracoat film? You've got duracoat on the surface where the dust cover needs to close against, which would take up some amount of 'slop' that the ball detent needs to be able to engage in the scallop. If you also have coating in the inside surface of the scallop, that might also...
