I used those decoys last year..have the jake and the hen....they look fantastic when in the field as they get a little bobbing action .....a big old gobbler thought so too....

Should Indiana deer hunters be allowed to use high-powered rifles.

So what is the expected date when the new bill for High Power hunting come up for vote? One last thought on spotlighting...many trophy bucks..the 160+ class are generally only seen at night, and can be seen quite regular in a given spot in late summer/fall with a light..These deer will temp...

What Mistakes Have You Made While Reloading??

My one BIG mistake in over 40 years of reloading... I was loading .45 ACP and noticed that "some" of the jacketed bullets went into some of the resized and charged cases exceptionally easy but I did not give it any thought. so...Without the proper neck tension on the bullet, when shooting, the...

Should Indiana deer hunters be allowed to use high-powered rifles.

I vote yes....anyone who has wanted to hunt with a rifle for the last several years could do so, as long as they could afford a custom .358..a .44 magnum rifle, .460 Smith, 450 Bushmaster etc. or..trim some off the neck of a .35 Rem for the rifle then reload it. Pistols in all large rifle...

      Best all around rifle caliber

Guns are like screw drivers, there are many sizes and shapes, all have their "intended" purpose...Most guys have many to fit the specific situation.. but three basic calibers come to mind to cover most bases...a rimfire..either a .22 or .17...then a .223 for longer range light duty, then a true...

Deer Rifle for 10 year old?

Single shot HR in .44 or .357....44 prob preferred..easy to reload .easy to unload, very simple and uncomplicated..and relatively cheap to shoot ..To me slugs are a thing of the past...and MZs are a PITA but there is a dedicated season for mz so be it.

DNR Uses Math, Not Magic, To Set County Bonus Antlerless Quotas

I believe the Insurance Companies and the Farmer Groups set the bag limits...After working as a guide in Pike County Illinois for 3 years, I would tell my buddies in Indiana that compared to Pike County, Il our deer in Indiana are effectually extinct. On a good day in Illinois, I could see more...

      Coyote Hunting Advice

The most effective way I have seen to kill them, is they way an old man in Ky showed me a few years ago...He had a motion sensor light with a red bulb in it about 150 yds from his front porch. Below the light he would tie up road killed deer..When the coyotes would come, mostly in the night...

cost of reloading compared to factory ammo

Where you save huge is on the heavy duty stuff..like .454 Casull, .458 SOCOM, .338 Lapua, .460 S&W, .500 S&W even .44 Mag all the Weatherby Mags,.....Saw box of .338L for close to $170.00 per box of 20....and the there is a large savings on heavy shotgun loads too..Basically the cost of the...

      ordered a .450 BM!

I know it is very hard to find a .450 now..It was hard two years ago before the law took effect that they were legal.. I had one on order from some outfit..always got the lady saying they should be in anytime..went on for months..I went on the Buds Guns site in Lexington and put the .450 on "MY...

Be Careful and Safe While in and While Moving Your Tree Stand.

Thanks for the info...never seen that before about the smaller diameter rope...every time I have "checked" to see if the knot will catch it did..but maybe in a dire situation it would not

      ordered a .450 BM!

Had one for two years..Killed buck in Kentucky last year and one in Indiana this year with it. . They are exceptionally accurate and 'easy' to shoot good groups with.. You don't really need a heavy duty spring...I have mine on a standard Ar lower, works fine, recoil very manageable.

      Is it considered baiting....

They can write the ticket, and it is up to you to prove how innocent you are.. perhaps a costly situation. "If" it was a naturally occurring agricultural practice it is ok..but it might be up to the judge to determine that..I would be discreet as this is an iffy situation.

Be Careful and Safe While in and While Moving Your Tree Stand.

All my stands have the safety ropes with the prussic knots, they stay all season. I run them tight right down the middle of the steps and tie around the tree about a foot over my head when standing, and tie the bottom end on a step at the bottom....can be made very reasonably...a 75 foot rope...

      .17 Winchester Super Mag

Granted it is not for squirrel hunting, neither is a .223 or a 22-250. To me, this is a great "medium" distance, high volume varmint round for someone who does not want to reload. It would be ideal for prairie dogs where hundred of rounds per day are required and the shooter wants to shoot...
