I'm looking to buy an AR15, but my budget is only around $400... What are my best options! Help me out!

I know it wont have a scope or any fancy bells and whistles. I just want to make sure its a reliable, good quality rifle.

    Thanks for all your opinions!

Try buying an assembled lower and a bear creek arsenal upper it will probably be a hair over 400 but darn close. BCA has a 1 moa guarantee on their barrels using much grade ammunition.

I just put a mid tier AR together. Im in it for $1000. Thats the market today. If I had cheaped out it would have still been north of $600.

Wow you are right. I was thinking pre Biden election. I could build a complete lower for under $110 and buy a inexpensive complete upper for around $250. Those days are over if Biden is president come January 21st.

You know.... It's not a real ar-15 but the smith and wesson m&p 15-22 is a pretty solid rifle. I love mine and it runs about $450. That's closer to the budget in mind.

I'm very likely to pick one of these up soon. With current ammo cost savings between .22 lr and .223, the gun pays for itself in under [STRIKE]5,000[/STRIKE] 1,000 - 1,500 rounds.

    ETA: I suck at math.

It's a fantastic rifle. I have it set up as a squirrel gun. Fires great suppressed as well.

I really can't say a bad thing about mine.

I think in terms of new stuff, you might be outta luck. But you might be able to find something like an M&P used for around that budget, as long as they are giving you a decent deal, which is tough to find right now sadly

Two years ago I won a $20 raffle at my local FNRA banquet and walked away with a S&W M&P.
That's probably going to be your best bet for an inexpensive AR-15 these days.

I gave that AR to my uncle. I had built several over the previous few years and the last thing I needed was another AR-15.
Besides, my uncle gave me 50 acres of woods, so a $500 AR-15 (at that time) still leaves me far behind in the gifting process...

Or, like I did, pick up a cmmg .22lr conversation kit & mags. I did this for the upcoming year's insanity and my son's journey into the shooting world.

As long as we are on the 15-22, anyone able to compare and contrast the M&P 15-22 and the HK 416-22 (made by Umarex I think). I bought a 15-22 many years ago when they went under $400 there for a little bit.

I've owned most. Tippmann is my favorite the most reliable and accurate.

let us know how it runs. I considered one, but the mixed reviews scared me off.

As they should if you want any kind of accuracy. If you want to waste ammo and miss 15 yard shots on squirrels randomly then ok. Barrel twist rates aren't even close.

WE have both. The 416 became problematic and the M&P is a trooper.

I can confirm that. My best friend and shooting buddy has several m&p firearms and I've never seen any issues with them. S&W does a pretty good job.

I do have a CMMG .22 conversion kit that I bought used here in the classifieds. I wish I had shot it first. It's hot garbage and has given me nothing but problems.
