I am hoping to pick up a handgun soon, and when I do, I plan on carrying it around with me at all times. Even though my wife and I live in a safe neighborhood, the last thing I want is to fall into complacency and have something happen. Every now and then, I carry my AR around at home, but it's a bit cumbersome and my wife rolls her eyes when I do

I don't carry around the house but I always have a gun nearby. Now that I have a 1911 and Blackhawk Serpa II rig, at-home carry seems like a good way to get used to the combination before making the 1911 my EDC piece. Up until now my Kahr P380 in a pocket has been my EDC. It will stay there but will assume back-up status when I have the 1911 on me. With the cooler weather now here it's the ideal time to make the transition.

I went to a Halloween party yesterday and bought an ankle holster because I couldn't wear a belt with my costume, and will now use that when I'm in sweats. Otherwise, I always have my handgun either on the desk or counter closest to me, or in a holster of sorts on my person.

I usually have my FNP .45 in a Crossbreed supertuck when I walk in the door after work, and as soon as I change clothes I put on my Raven Phantom, clip the M3 to the FNP, and I keep it on me until bed, when it goes on the nightstand.

I don't wear sweats. I wear cargo shorts or cargo pants depending on the weather. When I'm at home I have my sig holstered on my belt. I keep a spare mag in my pocket.

How many of you carry when you're at home? If you do, why, and does your wife think you're crazy? And how do you carry if you're wearing sweatpants or gym shorts?

    I always carry
Married 41 years... she doesn't get to vote on when I carry
    I don't wear sweatpants

I wear cargo shorts or pants all the time, and I pocket carry (with a pocket holster) at all times when in the house. Sometimes, when I'm going to be working in the garage, I'll carry in a belt holster. Occasionally, if me and the mrs are gonna sit outside by the fire, I'll carry my .44 mag on my belt. Never know when a BG is going to think they have an opportunity, or a Coyote is gonna come in for a closer look.

To say that you live in a nice neighborhood, so you don't feel the need to carry at all times is a pretty risky proposition. My neighborhood is not a bad place either, that still doesn't mean bad things can't happen, and yeah, maybe I could get to one of my guns if somebody was kicking in my door, but with my weapon ON ME at all times, that's a part of the equation I don't have to worry about, and I figure I'll have plenty to worry about if the worst ever happens.:twocents:

Oh, and my wife doesn't mind my carrying a bit.

So far as clothing choices around the house, let's just say that handguns are stashed in various places around the house and garage that carrying is not an issue and leave it at that. Don't want to be the cause of mass eye gouging or reoccuring nightmares. :):

So far as HD goes, I've got it "covered".

I carry at home about 80% of the time. But when the weapon is not on my person it is within seconds from me. In today's society being run by socialists if you live in an urban area and don't live in a gated community you need to be armed all the time or have a weapon within arms reach.

I don't answer the door or go outside for any reason unarmed. If you think I'm paranoid PM me and I will send you a list of what I have seen outside my door just this last summer.

I carry a j-frame in my pocket when im home. The 5 rounds should be enough to allow me to get to a more substantial weapon I may have stashed around. The way the layout of my apartment is if anyone kicked in the door they would have to jump over a couch and table or run out the door to dodge the rounds.

However, if I didn't have a piece on my person and someone kicked in the door it would be hard for me to have enough time to get to a weapon that is stored somewhere without being very close to anyone breaking into the apartment; the place isn't very big so anyone coming in quickly will be close to me as soon as they enter the door.

My fiance didn't get why I did it at first, but I explained to her that not every home intruder will mess around with the lock or knock and wait for you to answer the door...one good kick from a big guy will bust our door right in...being able to run to a different room and get to a gun may not be possible without physical contact with the intruder.

Is what you have seen outside your door not fit for the community's consumption? Inquiring minds want to know...

If I am wearing pants (which is pretty often contrary to popular belief) I 99% of the time have a firearm on me. When relaxing in my castle, A firearm is well within reach at all times. Zombies may attack at any moment...
