Sorry for the delay! New to me lathe came in with a DRO that needed installed and some other non-1911 work has been going on. Should be back on the 1911 soon.

Thank you. Its not to late to throw a few pictures of the remaining portion of the build on the forum! I love seeing build pics.

You have inspired me, good sir. I think I will. It's pretty well done now but I have some pictures of the detail work, 80% frame, handmade grips, etc. It's been shelved for the moment as the only thing left is engraving the slide and I can't determine the course. But for all intents and purposes, it's a fully functioning .460

I apologize! So much going on right now that I have been a bit behind on some photos!

On to checkering the frame. The front strap was cleaned up with a ball end mill and high-cut for a higher grip on the pistol. The checkering will be 20-lpi, which is great for a USPSA 1911, which this will be.

Setting up to do the horizontals first. I don't necessarily start at the bottom. I am just setting the clearance for the fixture before I get started.

Horizontals are finished and setting up for the vertical cuts. Got derailed due to that brand new (and expensive) collet chuck and collet had an insane amount of run-out....

Collets are supposed to positive lock. My little south bend lath is set up for collets. they are easy to use on the smaller work.

Churchmouse, I am not sure what is going on with this collet, but it doesn't seem to want to lock. I will call Kennametal in the morning and see what they suggest.

Churchmouse, I called Kennametal and they said that is not uncommon with the DA style collets... They are allowing me to return it and I will have to find an ER collet chuck with a small enough diameter to clear the fixture.

Vertical lines have been cut, which is the less tedious of the two lines for two reasons, 1. I can use the power-feed 2. There are not 47 of them...
