    Lead eye,
Any way to trade you out of one of your .460 Weatherby and .405 WCF rounds?
    Scout

We can probably work something out that doesn't involve shipping. I don't collect cartridges but just have some stuff that I've accumulated over the years, the odd calibers I have I also shoot. Have any 30-40 brass?

What if there was an organized swap. 10-20 people, meeting in one place, brining 10-20 odd ball rounds they have extra of? Round for round swap to help each other's collections??

Lead eye, no 30-40 brass here. I do have several hundred, maybe 1000 30-06 brass, if anyone is looking. All commercial stuff.

I have shipped "rounds" through USPS for collectors. I pull the bullets with a kinetic puller, dump the powder, kill the primer with petroleum based oil and reseat the bullet.

That is a great idea! Count me in.

We just need to come up with a time and place that is agreeable to everyone.

Shipping is expensive and a hassle.

I don't collect cartridges, but I have many different ones that I shoot, including a couple fairly uncommon ones.

I think it was ScouT6a that I shipped a dozen different ones a couple years back?

If any collectors are in the south, I'll be happy to help out.

Wolfhound thought a reason for frangilbe ammo is training at the range. 30-06 is a very powerful round and could easily destroy a backstop. A buddy told me about shooting some old military stuff at a large log for a backstop that they used and it stopped bullets well. So when he went check his target with that old stuff and it went completely through the log and disappeared in the ground.

Fullmag, that makes sense. The 30-06 is an extremely powerful round. The frangible ammunition probably allowed them to use ranges that wouldn't be able to stop standard 30-06 rounds. There is not much that can be considered cover when your on the wrong end of a rifle like that. The German 8mm Mauser had similar power.

mkgr22, That is a really kind offer. I am in central Indiana but I would be willing to drive down for some unusual cartridges. I think you should let me trade you something for them. Powder, bullets, ammo something. :patriot:

Are we talking about the green/white tip frangible posted up thread? It was used for live gunnery practice on special up-armored target planes.

If it's somebody in thread who bought Fullmag's nice assortment, maybe we can do some trading?

Bogwalker, thanks for the history behind the frangible ammo. Armored or not I wouldn't want to be flying the target plane.

I did purchase Fullmag's cartridges. (Thank you Fullmag). I am still sorting through them and I will be looking to do some trading with anyone who is interested. There are quite a few 30-06 frangible, tracer, AP, gallery rounds and some ball ammo with DEN 42 head stamp. Also some WW2 30 carbine and some interesting rim fires in 25, 30 and 32.

I will get some pictures up this weekend hopefully.

I'm just getting in to collecting cartridges and would be open to working out deals for just about anything I don't already have.

Most of what I shoot is pretty main stream, so I don't have a lot to offer for trades. I do have some .308/7.62x51 with Arabic head stamps; some are tracers, and some attrack a maganet, but the paint is worn off so there is now way to tell what they are. I could trade 300 BLK or 450 Bushmaster and can get my hands on some of AP or tracers in 50 BMG.

    My current cartridge collection includes:

    • .22LR
    • .17 HMR
    • .38 S&W
    • .38 Special
    • .357 Magnum
    • 9mm Luger
    • .40 S&W
    • .45ACP
    • .44 Mag
    • .500 S&W
    • .223 Rem (5.56x45)
    • .22-250 Win
    • 6mm PPC
    • 7mm BR
    • 7.62 x 39
    • .30 Carbine
    • 300 AAC Blackout
    • 30-30 Win
    • .308 Win (7.62x51)
    • 30-40 Krag
    • 30-06
    • .303 British
    • .300 Win Mag
    • .325 WSM
    • .450 Bushmaster
    • .45-70
    • .475 Wildey
    • .50 BMG
    • .410 ga
    • 20 ga

    Deanald2pt0,

I would be interested in 300 blackout. Would you be willing to attend a cartidge swap meet if we could get one organized?
