Nothwithstanding the “ a Conservation Officer in the state of Indiana has the greatest arrest powers of any law enforcement officer” theory, I see no reason why a CO needs to wear his service revolver when he is having lunch with his wife. One might argue that he isn’t really “on duty” if he has chosen to separate himself from his duty vehicle and enjoin himself with a family member.

That’s the most extreme argument that might be made -

With that being said, I do agree that the alarmist snowflake cited concern for her safety reference the armed officer so she could promote her own social justice liberal agenda. I suspect the ideologues who promote this way of thinking were reveling in the free publicity.

Am I wrong in the fact that LEO is required to carry even off duty. I could be wrong but that just sticks in my head.
A LEO in full dress and carrying is zero to be alarmed and yes this douche was pushing her ridiculous agenda at the expense of this individual and the establishment. How do we hold their feet to the fire when this ridiculous crap happens. Until we do there will be much more.

    Here's how to troll Outback:

Gather a bunch of people who like to carry OWB.

Conceal the firearms while on the way in and seated.

Order a bunch of high-dollar food and alcohol. Once it is delivered to the table - everyone remove their cover garments to expose their lawfully carried firearms.

When asked to leave - do so quietly and without touching any of the stuff on the table.

This only works if it's a party large enough to make all the food waste "hurt" the day's line. And if all people present are prepared to pay for their order if they're NOT asked to leave.

I still think that if it is a GFZ then that should mean all guns.

Maybe once it got out that even LEO are not welcomed armed the rats could start gathering there to pick from the sheep. That would start a lot of conversation.

We are going out to eat this evening... wonder which GFZ I will carry in?

Exactly the reason why I eat my meals in my squad car. So that I don't have to deal with dumbasses getting all butthurt over me taking a break, spending a few minutes with my family, or carrying a gun in their "gun free" establishment.

come to where I work, use the microwave, get a coffee or fountain drink, on the house. Sit in Subway and eat your meal. Anyone says anything, I personally will ask them to leave. I will escort them out and explain to them WHY you are sitting there, taking a ****ing break!! I don't do well with idiots. I think I am in the wrong line of work.

that goes to any LEO in the city. I know a few of you already do stop in now and then.

Many, if not most, departments require or strongly encourage off duty carry. In addition, you are expected to intervene in crimes you witness, etc.

I can't speak for every department, but IMPD requires that an officer driving their issued vehicle be armed.

This... plus I work midnights and a lot of the employees of the only two place that are open are regulars, so I'm not exactly sold on them making me food.

For those who aren't aware, this reaction to police is pretty common now days. I deal with it all the time. Not the restaurant thing, but statements like the one quoted above I get to hear pretty much daily from people I'm dealing with that are "terrified".

Irrational fear by the perpetually aggrieved: another consequence of the Ferguson Effect.

Such people are idiots. Sadly, they breed.

Likewise - and, by an order of magnitude moreso, according to available statistics - a non-uniformed civilian carrying a properly holstered firearm presents zero cause for alarm.

Until people give up their irrational fears of law-abiding people (uniformed and non-uniformed), and start focusing on rational fear of criminals, we will continue to have such problems.

There is a complicit media at the roots of this entire thing.

You make me want to have my own restaurant so you can enjoy lunch in peace without dumbasses and ******* having combination heart attack/strokes due to your presence.

I'll do join a group doing this. You name the date, time, and location.

It won't be a loss because it's likely what they serve will suck anyway.

I cringe when I hear of police departments in other states forbidding officers to be armed when off duty, even if they are in uniform. I'm glad that does not exist in Indiana.

A lone, uniformed police officer who is visibly unarmed would seem to be an almost irresistible target to some violent felons.
