It is conceivable that this stance would produce a better outcome for most people shooting competition or even in a live self-defense situation. As with anything else in life, change takes practice in order to perfect. I changed how I use slings after Appleseed and it worked, but I had to practice. I changed my handgun grip after reading input from one of of Hickman's threads and it worked much better.
This particular style is very uncomfortable for me and I've tried several times. I don't shoot three-gun competitions and I like the feel, comfort, support, and accuracy I achieve with the use of a sling, so I will stick to it. However, I've seen many people use this style and use it well, so it can't be wrong, just different.
