He doesn't allow any mishandling at all. I've seen plenty of other stores in Fort Wayne claim a gun was new when the last guy who had just walked out dry fired it. I'm not going to apologize for being suspicious. Ed simply wouldn't allow that.

Is your last name Hirschy? :dunno: Or do you really have your head stuck that far up his :):

Nope, I just don't like to see people speak poorly about an upstanding businessman about whom they know nothing.

I'd love for you to explain why, if Ed is as unpopular as you say, he lives in that beautiful brick house. I obviously am not the only person to buy my guns there. =)

I've read the whole discussion and actually the theme appears to be price jacking after a quote has already been made over the telephone.

Perhaps he is dealing more than just guns. :D

All this does is prove that Ed is unwilling to work with individuals who want to negotiate prices, which he says from the start. It also shows that you aren't as respectful toward dealers as you say you are, since you didn't immediately disclose your knowledge. Good for Ed for not wanting your business when he could work with more forthright and honest gentlemen.

Did I say I was trying to negotiate with him? I ask him what his BEST price was and I can either accept it or go somewhere else to buy it, that is the complete opposite of negotiating.

How can you say I was not respectful to him by not disclosing my knowledge, HE wants you to do your homework elsewhere and come to him to purchase and that is EXACTLY what I did. If anyone was disrespectful it was ED, he was the one playing the pricing games I just asked him upfront to give me his BEST price and had no plans to try and get him to go any lower than he quoted.

By the way, I am probably one of the most honest and forthright people you will ever meet.....too bad ED will never get the chance to find out. As I said in my last post, since my last experience with him i have spent many thousands of $ with other sellers and if making money was his reason to be in business, as it should be, he has missed a lot of profit dollars by pushing good people away with his B/S business practices.

I never said he's unpopular.. I didn't even say he didn't have a long line of people wanting to buy from him, I just indirectly stated that his business practices aren't as great as you obviously feel they are. And if you noticed the majority of people that have complaints about him have actually purchased multiple guns from him as have I in the past. But eventually, he treated them poorly, mislead a few, and just outright lied to others.

It's difficult to believe that when it contradicts your narration of the phone conversations.

Well as someone else in this forum said earlier, let people vote with their dollars. Ed's obviously winning by that measure. =)

Ed doesn't negotiate. If your time is worth so little that it's in your best interest to negotiate then 1) I pity you and 2) Ed's time is worth incredibly more, and he's not interested in your business from as far as I can tell.

He doesn't allow any mishandling at all. I've seen plenty of other stores in Fort Wayne claim a gun was new when the last guy who had just walked out dry fired it. I'm not going to apologize for being suspicious. Ed simply wouldn't allow that.

    1) In most places on Earth, the price is just a starting point for negotiating. That half the fun of gun buying. 2) You pity someone who bought the same brand new gun at a different shop for a discounted price because they spent five minutes negotiating a price? :n00b: I truly believe you are a troll. Did Armed Eastsider move north?

    3) Dry firing a gun does not damage it unless it is a .22. Then it is debatable. On any other gun it actually improves the trigger, if anything. Nice try though.

That's obviously desperate and baseless. What's your reasoning behind that accusation?

It could be explained by the fact that he sells a lot of gun safes though. I was buying a gun when he received an entire semi-load of safes once.

ODG...lighten up it was just an attempt at some humor. It's obvious that you have this guys poster over your bed. However, others (many, apparently) have not had good experiences with him for the various reasons listed above. Just agree to disagree and move on. :twocents:

If negotiating is fun for you, then go ahead and do it elsewhere. For people who want a fast and efficient purchase, they can go to Ed's.

I used to think dry firing could be beneficial as well until I watched I guy break a firing pin in a shop. That was good for the gun, too, right? ;)

How do you know it was not a bad firing pin? Sometimes bad batches are made. Would the firing pin have broken while it was being shot? And while it seems like he is a faster person to buy from, he doesn't sound reputable, or at least someone I would give that extra $$$ from his price jacking to.

I hope Ed finds this forum and laughs at all the things less successful people say about him.

It seems he already has. Less successful? More likely smart consumers. Well I'm going to hit the hay. Tomorrow I'll gear up with the handgun I bought elsewhere, cheaper, and just as reliable and new as one of Ed's firearms.
