      It's practical, sure, and a decent investment - but if you are open to the idea, it's not a bad investment to buy the 17 either. Just depends on how much money you want to spend..

      Seems to me there are plenty of great guns out there, but from a "jack of all trades" point of view, the Glock lineup is pretty hard to beat.

      FWIW, the Streamlight mounted lights are pretty nice as well. Nothing wrong with Surefire, but when price is a consideration they're worth a look..

      I carry a Strion HL all the time - I've saved enough with rechargability to pay for the light over and over again in battery cost alone. I keep a FourSevens Preon P1 (old style apparently, looking at their website) in my pocket as a backup.

      My pocket pen is a Titanium Embassy Pen by CountyComm.. I don't know how tactical it is, but I sure feel tacticool while writing with it!

      Pensacola in December

      Not officially, but unless they've changed things they start off-season practice over Gulf Shores and Fort Morgan areas - nothing formal, but still cool to see. Then they're off to El Centro California in January (again, it's been a year or 3, so things may have changed)

      Pensacola in December

      If heading to Gulf Shores Metro isn't too far, you can get a tour of the USS Alabama.. we did that and the Naval Museum when my brother was stationed at NAS Pensacola and had fun with both. You may check around and see if you can get a beach-level seat for the Blue Angels practice runs as well..
