Is it a top break revolver? It probably uses .32 S&W (Short). Fairly hard to come by. Sometimes places like ammotogo.com or cheaperthandirt.com have it. Last time I saw some was at a gun show and it was some European brand. Here is a link to an article about a similar gun: Gun Review...
My Springfield XD has no thumb safety, but I wish I had the version that included it. Just can't get comfortable with it as a carry gun after handling a 1911 for years.
You will need a long eye relief scope on that model 92. I tried an inexpensive NcStar 2.5X30 pistol scope on my Rossi 92 last deer season to test out the idea of scope hunting with a lever action. It worked out well. It allowed me to shoot with both eyes open. Here is a link for the scope...

For seeing those little holes, light gathering ability may be more important than excess magnification. Check out these Zhumell astronomy binoculars with 80mm objective lenses. Only $100. At 20X you will find it difficult to hold them still without a tripod. They collect a lot of light and...
A sub-$500 629? I haven't seen anything near that price even a the gun shows. Did you notice if they had any similar deals on used 686s? I need one to go with my 629.
