Spent several hours in a couple different tree stands in Parke County. Didn't see a thing. My nephew saw a couple small does, but that's it. Hopefully next week will be more fruitful.
Thanks for all the responses!! This was just something that had crossed my mind as a possibility. I'll be buying the two licenses and hope to bag a couple next week. Props to everyone for a great discussion.
Hoping to get a deer or two next week and the only place I'm familiar with is Moody's in Ladoga, but that's a bit out of the way. Any recommendations in the Brazil, Greencastle or far west side would be appreciated.
:dunno:
Nope, not looking for approval, just wondering if I was the only one that contemplated it.
I was excited when they came out w/ the combo license this year until I saw that it was basically just a $10 savings off of 3 tags. What they really need is a more affordable "if it's brown it's down"...
Just curious on this possibility.
If hunting on private family land what would be to stop you from bagging a deer, then buying the license online, and reporting the kill online? I can see that it's not the 100% ethical thing to do but was just curious. If someone is only planning on hunting...
I'm thinking of getting my first AR, but it seems as though shooting it (outside of private property) will be difficult at best. Any ranges around besides Atterbury where .223 is allowed? Any info would be appreciated!
What a bunch of idiots. Good job putting everything up in the back though. I bet when they came through the front, and saw all the display cases empty they were like "oh sh*#!!!".. Now they are stuck with a federal charge for a few shotguns and a .32 rifle.
I just picked up a used Remington 597 Stainless w/ Scope (forget the exact model number). The only issue I have with it is there are no sights, just the scope. How difficult/costly would it be to add some so the gun is a little more versitile?
Does FNS go down rain or shine (unless it's really storming). It's looking like the chance of precip drops to 30-40% after 5pm. I'm wondering if I'll be able to man up enough to make it. I don't think I could stand waiting another whole month....

I'm in the same boat as Shooter521. I've been to FNS a few times now and just joined up last night. The discount at FNS should pay for the membership in a few months. Or at least that's how I'm selling it to the wifey!
I have a Remington 522 Viper that I bought off of a buddy and can't find any spare magazines for it. I have found some on GunBroker.com, but they want ~$50 ea for a 10rd mag. I'm torn if I should try and sell it outright, and use the funds to get something I'd rather have (10/22 or 597) or try...
+1 for Clear Creek Sporting Clays. I've been out there several times, and gotten a lot of practice. JD is great to deal with, and very helpful. They are open Wed, Sat & Sun.
Any suggestions for a first timer at FNS? I've got an XD 9mm but only 2 mags. I'm looking to pick up a couple more before next Friday, will 4 be enough.
Agreed. Bought my XD 9mm there. Was used, but in perfect condition. Have been back several times for ammo and holster. Very helpful guys. Nice to have something so close to home.
Same here. Hopefully they still have some 9mm on my way home. I broke down and bought a couple boxes of Winclean at Wal-Mart 96th & 69 on my lunch. They had a ton of .40 S&W Winclean that just came in. If anyone in the Avon area has any lemme know!
