Lightweight, economical AR, AKA: The Girlfriend Gun

Consider a Cav Arms lower while they can still be found.

Now THIS is a torture test!

I don't think any chicom light could take that.

First AR build, Spikes stripped lower?

I built this gun using a Spike stripped lower and it went together just fine.

      Kimber night sights

Kimber night sights are Meprolights, made in Israel. Trijicon makes a better night sight IMO.

      Double Star questions

Doublestar provides an excellent value. They make both low-end and high-end models so check the specs. I have had zero problems with my DoubleStar:

      Lightweight AR Stock???

Don't know where to get them locally but DSG Arms has a great price on them: Cavalry Arms Mark II Lower Receiver Black If I wasn't broke, I would buy a couple more while they can still be had.

Get a Cav Arms Lower while they are still available. The have an A1 length buttstock built in and are super lightweight.

      Carbon fiber AR upper ?

The gun runs perfectly. Probably about 500 rounds through it so far. It is my favorite gun to shoot.

      Carbon fiber AR upper ?

I built this super-lightweight 16" carbine using a stripped Carbon-15 Upper and a Cav Arms Lower. The result is 5 lb. 1 oz. (without magazine). It handles and shoots great. The C-15 Upper assembled exactly like an aluminum one (except there is no forward assist or ejection port cover).

More long guns thanks to grandpa!!!

Congratulations. I am jealous. I do not have any family heritage like that. Treasure it!

      Shotgun knowledge needed

50 bucks is about what it's worth.

      Bushmaster carbon 556 with scope

I used a Carbon-15 stripped Upper Receiver to build my ultra lightweight AR. I cannot speak for complete Carbon-15 rifles but the stripped Upper has worked well on my gun.

Need good ideas for a new flashlight

If toughness and durability are important to you, check out the first part of this video from shot show. I don't think a chinese light could take that kind of abuse. YouTube - 2011 SHOT Show Elzetta Product Line
