Yes. Compare and contrast Antifa's "2A Rally" with the one held at the state capitol back in April here in Indy. Hear anyone chanting slogans? See any effigies being burned? See any long guns carried at the low ready, or handguns unholstered? Me either. This is what peaceful assembly looks like.

So you weren't visibly hunting for your enemies that you were there for the sole purpose of disrupting and intimidating, after numerous prior cases of committing violence against them?

Too bad some jack-ass brought some sign with 'stars&bars' and ruined the picture. Clowns like that are like ticks.

No, I guess in all the excitement I just forgot to do that, darn it. :):

Meh. I'll take a well-behaved redneck with a stars and bars sign/flag over masked armed people shouting angry slogans, burning stuff and generally acting in a threatening manner. I know some won't agree.

I find it baffling how easily some would question another's ability to express their rights. As if some are more entitled to them than others. Oh wait, this is the United States. We have a long history of that. Nevermind, carry on.

Please quote the post in this thread calling for them to be disarmed or have the right to protest taken away. Maybe you'll win a free Zima.

I personally like them loud and in the sunshine. For anyone that doesn't have their head buried up their own ass, it's easy to see which direction this group is headed. The recent introduction of firearms into their marches/protests, along with the attempted murder of police officers, makes it clear that this isn't just some benign group exercising their rights.

America is Free.......... only because a bunch of us died keeping commies from ultimately entering our country.
So....... We don't kill commies anymore? We let commies parade our streets with guns and commie flags? :dunno:

What? We don't want to offend the commie bastards?

I'd rather be dead than red like a dick on a poodle. :patriot:

That's kinda like saying that syphilis is better than HIV. Technically true, but...:):

No, I think the policy preference is to allow them to broadcast their beliefs so that we can rebut them.

Expose them to the light of day.

Let them run for office, and run against them.

One can simultaneously respond to rhetorical attacks on our American Experiment, while simultaneously preparing to defend it from non-rhetorical attacks.

People died to preserve the freedom for them to march, even while armed.

A noble sentiment. I still wonder what Korean War and Vietnam vets think of having risked their lives and seen their fellow Americans maimed and killed in the fight against communists, only to see them marching down the street in their own communities. Probably not exactly what they had in mind.

I've known (and been related to) some that meet that description.

They were tougher than we are now. Not as easily offended by idiots.

They taught me exactly that - that the freedom was for people to do mean, offensive things. Because if it wasn't for that, then it wasn't for anything.

Now, they also taught me that we didn't have to yield the field to people like that, either. We have our own right - that sometimes becomes an obligation - to challenge their ideas and defend people from their violence. Both here and abroad.

Unfortunately, we're being "taught" that we DO in fact have to yield the field to people like that. If we don't, then we are somehow "the oppressors", when the reality couldn't be further from the truth. How many universities have banned liberal speakers because of their views? (Pretty sure it's a number less than 1). How many have banned conservative speakers because of their views?

And we know of this because... we have the freedom AND ability to let people know. To let each other know.

We should keep doing that. And telling people about it.

Let them do their thing. It reveals the hypocrisy. The hollowness of their integrity.

We have more of an opportunity to let people know the truth now than ever before. Let's do that part. Let's not ignore, let's not ridicule (ok, maybe a little), let's not create any monuments to them (including straw men).

IMHO we don't need to. Just let them keep talking.

Not sure if one generation is any tougher than another. I was a wee lad back then, but I've read about returning Vietnam vets being at least a little bit offended at being spat on and being called baby killers.

I see some distinction between your garden variety idiot protestor and militant members of a party whose end goal is a complete end to our way of life here, in favor of an ideology that has caused death and suffering for millions across the globe. One of the biggest mistakes people make is to underestimate their enemy.

Still not calling for them to be disarmed or silenced. Makes it easier to observe and, if necessary, infiltrate.

At some point "let them keep talking" turns to complacency (sometimes forced complacency - as in don't do anything or ELSE you will be accused of a hate crime). You referenced Niemoller in another post. Don't you realize that conservatives are the ones being come for right now? Nobody is "coming for" the socialists. Nobody is "coming for" the communists. They're coming for conservatives, make no mistake about it. Now you can sit back and say, "Well, it's their right to do so" all you want, but at some point, it will be ONLY their right, and not yours. Who is speaking up for conservatives? And to what effect?

I guess we found the line where freedom loving Americans have drawn to limit the freedom of other Americans.

You gonna quote the post in this thread that calls for the silencing of these commies, or their disarmament? Or you just gonna continue to run your suck with the same baseless whining, as usual?

I assume you're fine with yelling "Fire" in a theater too. Because that's what's happening. Let me ask you something. If a bunch of people showed up in front of your house, guns drawn, or at the low ready, and were calling for you to come out, would you feel threatened, or would you come out and smile and invite them in? Because technically, they're not breaking any laws, right? That's what Antifa has started doing (figuratively speaking).

    Nah, just using deductive reasoning.
