I took up hobby trapping about 5 years ago and love. I had the same advice from my father as the other guys. Just grab a few traps and give it a try. I now have bought about 40 traps of various sizes and trap all winter.
I've tried two or three electronic calls borrowed from friends. Never had any luck. Then drive 15 min. To the next location used my mouth call and had a dead coyote in 10 min. At 50 yards. Not sure of the problem but I think electronic calls have to much repetition.
