I'm 26, and quite sure thats definitely qualifying as youngster, especially compared to some of the old farts I know are lurking around on here :P ...and I knew what it was, and can say that I owned and sold one a decade ago. The one that I regret selling was the Ideal. That was a fantastic...
Pretty rifle :) My 34 is patina'd just slightly less, but I think I like the grain of the wood on yours slightly better. This can get expensive (like shooting a 22 isnt nowadays? lulz), but if you can find them, the OLD Remington red & white box Golden Bullet solids shoot fantastic through...
Something custom with 'Ackley Improved' behind the numbers on the barrel. I've always liked bullets in the 6-7mm range, and it would be a hard call between a 6mm AI and a 280 AI (with notable mention for a 260 AI). I think for really reaching out there, the 280 would be best. Plus, the 280...
I habitually go on safe between rifle shots, just how I was taught. I've got a Remington 34 that was my first adult gun (had a couple of youth models prior to that) and I can't even start to fathom how many rounds I've shot through that thing...if you get the hankering for something with iron...
Welcome to the club. Nice rifle there, and iirc you can get the same style rifle in single shot, and removable box magazine (should be the 510 and 511, if memory serves)
You're forgetting the razorwire on top of the fence, the pungi sticks in the moat, ballistae at strategic intervals, and a trebuchet in the garage.
As far as I can tell, the only thing I'm joking about is the sharks and ballistae. She loves watching Punkin Chunkin every Thanksgiving with my...
My wife insists on a moat. I'm not even joking, a ditch 4-6 feet deep, filled with water (and frickin sharks with frickin laser beams attached to their foreheads), and preferably with a stone or brick fence outside of that, and a nice hedge of thornbushes on the inside. I'm almost not looking...
Dad collected (mostly) Case knives when I was younger, he gave me one of his peanut's when I was in kindergarten. It was more of a collectible than a user, so that was soon replaced with a SAK that I used for quite a few years. Always having a knife in my pocket from that early on just kinda...
Purple so friggin true. Monstrous recoil is why I switched to BP for gun hunting. I prefer a heavy shove vs a drop kick from Beckham. Plus, the sights and smells from BP are 10x better...not to mention the ballistics :)
Dad always used Federal Premium Hydra-Shok for his, I had better luck with Lightfield in mine. He has a spare slug gun (for backup, friends, etc..) that shoots the Hornady SST's really well.
Slug guns are the same as any other gun. Each gun needs to be tried with diff kinds of ammo if you're...
For many years in my youth I thought that he actually did get a shot off into the air as he was getting his face chomped off, wasn't til a couple years ago I figured out that was just one of the sounds effects they used in the movie that I believe was to simulate the raptor crashing into his body.
i always used dimes. the pitch is a little different, sounds closer to the sounds the squirrels make when they're popping nuts open, to me at least.
another thing, if you lose one going behind some leaves in a tree, i've quickly raked my hand through leaves then went right back to motionless...
