      Planting trees

jmariot is spot on. Contact DNR. They will send you an inventory of bare root trees. They sell for .25 to 2.00 each if I remember right. I have planted tens of thousands of these over the years. If you don't plant on watering in dry months expect a 50% survival rate. Also, I would suggest some...

Meds for puttin up from Mexico

I spend on the average 12 weeks a year in Mexico and have been traveling there since 1989. As a general rule, you can save about 30 to 40 % buying meds in Mexico if there is no generic available here in the USA. American media loves to bash Mexico for various reasons, but the bottom line is...

      Stainless vs Blued

After fighting some rust on a few of my firearms over the years, I vowed to slowly replace most of them with SST. It is more expensive but well worth it in my opinion.

50 or 100 oz silver bars

Some people just cant stand it when others can afford to buy gold or silver. Maybe the OP has all the beans and bullets he could ever need and still has a gazillion soon to be worthless American dollars. When you look at it like that, silver is a great idea! Best of luck!

      PSE Nova help

If the limbs are not twisted and it "Tills" (they both bend straight with the same force) and the draw length is adjustable to fit you, get the parts. They are not expensive. This bow is like a Marlin model 60. Nothin fancy, but solid. As mentioned, not worth a lot, maybe 100 after you fix it

How to form a raiding party when SHTF?

Funny, I was just thinking the other day... Im surprised that there hasnt been any thefts of the ammo depots where the government has been hoarding ammo. That got me to thinking, if the SdidHTF, maybe some would think it wise to have some targets. Fuel, ammo, fire power, grain. I hope they...

New Glock 23 OD Green - Value?

600 Plus for a Glock is for people who dont have the time or knowledge to shop around. The local gun shop down the street had them on the shelf last week when I was in there and they were 489. To me Glock (and I LOVE em) is a tool. Discontinued colors wouldnt effect the price that much. I think...

I need a new accountant for small farm OPS

I have 2 accountants. One I sleep with, and she really gives me a hard time when it comes to deductions and what not for my small business. This makes tax time a nightmare around the house. By the way we are married too. I also have a guy that does fairly well with my rental house business...

      canning

For sure a priceless skill in a disaster or not. If nothing else, I suggest buying the equipment, learning to use it and then moth balling it. If the power goes out long term, that's part of my plan to can whatever is in the freezer. To me, its a basic skill that goes hand in hand with...

      BOB Fishing Gear

If you havent already, check out yo-yo reels. I bought a few cases for barter and for my BOB. I figure you can set a few and leave them so you can attend to other things. Fishing: Yo-Yo Automatic Fishing Reels - product summary - Bing Shopping

      Good socks?

Smart Wool as mentioned. I have just recently worn holes in a couple pair. They were 14 years old. They make several thicknesses and lengths. I like the med weight hikers for most applications. They are not cheap, about 15 bucks but hey, 14 years!

Not looking forward to tonight :-(

Sorry man. True dog lovers understand. I lost my last "family member" 14 months ago and it still hurts. Lots of good memories though. That,s what you have to remind yourself

      Idiotic pricing....

IMO, there is some value to buying used from a private individual because there is no paper trail. They cant come after something that I never had. ATF or local police can trace firearms through FFL'S in about 24 hours or less.

Anybody own a Benelli SBE II?

I have a SBE. Dont think its a II. I can tell you that I have put it through some very extreme hunting conditions over a period of about 10 years and it never failed. Its my waterfowl and turkey gun. I have a 62 yard turkey kill with it which isn't phenomenal, but its pretty darn good. I have...

      For Survival..

I agree the bow over the cross bow. Also, consider a "take down" recurve bow. The limbs unscrew from the risor. I have a PSE Coyote, it will take down and go into my pack with the arrows. I killed a Pope and Young Trophy buck with mine. I think mine is 60Lbs pull. I would get a lighter pull...
